The unique Houses for Change™ collection box is a tangible way your family can help homeless children and their families. In addition to providing critically needed funds, the project generates a “teachable moment” for parents, schools, and congregations to address the causes and effect of homelessness with their children.
The Houses for Change™ program is easy. Simply, have a child decorate the box to look like a house. You may utilize one of the Teaching Guides when working with a large group. Then make a practice of putting loose change into the box. When it is filled or at another time of your choosing, count out the funds saved and send a check to: Family Promise of Effingham, Inc., P.O. Box 964, Rincon, GA 31326.
Houses for Change™ is sponsored by Family Promise, a national nonprofit organization that mobilizes communities to help homeless and low-income families. Through our nationwide network of more than 160 affiliates, we provide shelter, meals, and support services for families in need. Family Promise has developed an integrated, comprehensive approach that helps families attain lasting independence.
The donation you make from the money you collect will change lives. We will immediately put it to work helping families lift themselves out of poverty and homelessness. It will help us provide food, shelter, and support services for families in need. It will help us raise awareness about poverty, and mobilize thousands of volunteers into service.
Our generous donors and supporters have helped immensely since opening our doors in June 2014. Unfortunately, the need is still great-families now comprise 40% of the homeless population and are its fastest growing segment. On behalf of the children and parents whom you help, thank you so very much for your support and your participation in Houses for Change™.
